During the past six years, he hasn't remained at Rikkaidai, but instead has been moving around with his family. The continued tradition of never staying in the same place long being the culprit. He was glad when he was finally legal because he could take control of his life and actually stay in one place for longer than a year or two. He had never been in a relationship either, because he didn't want to hurt anyone with how erratic his family was when it came to moving around. He didn't want to end up getting hurt himself either. This reason would be the why he never confessed to Yukimura with his crush. He was happy with their relationship even though it was just a friendship. He was comfortable with just remaining a friend to Yukimura, and felt like he didn't need anymore than that.

Yanagi has stopped hiding from the world behind his lidded eyes in favor of keeping them open so he could see the world for what it was. He still maintains an air of mystery about him though despite this because over the years the practiced ease of hiding his emotions carried through to even when he eyes stayed open. He retains his calm exterior, and backs it up with his firm and focused opinions and ideas. He also still retains his dry sense of humor.

He still keeps his data, but his views on it have changed. He now understands that sometimes things can not be predicted with data, but even that doesn't stop him and his collection. Old habits die hard, after all. This was a reason he picked the field of psychology as his major. He has an intense belief that his data collecting skills could be used to help people. He's certain that he could gather the details and make a persons life better by taking a course of action that the data he collects would point to. If the situation however, proves that his taken course of action would not be the best for the patient he would find another method to help them.

He also admits to having a fascination with how the human mind works, and with how much he likes to learn, psychology proves to be something that keeps his interest. This is because the human mind always seems to be evolving, and he likes to have his challenges as well. Psychology seems to give him that challenge that he wants, especially in the development of new courses of treatments to effectively raise the quality of life for those who would need his help.
